The most basic is sharing a few pictures and anecdotes that convince friends, acquaintances, and family members that you are alive. Check.
The second is informing readers of something they may not know. The most widely shared forms of this are beauty tips, parenting tips, how to pick up women, ways of making money, and end-of-the-world prognostications. I do try to inform but in a way that does not check any obvious boxes.
The next level is using the blog as a platform for pure, unfiltered creation. Like whatever comes to mind at a certain moment. Not quite a journal, more stream of consciousness. Probably 20 percent of my articles fit this category. They are there to shake the non-committed readers from the branches. Those who enjoy the more trad stuff are going to have their ears blasted and that is part of the process of....
There is the cloud novel concept. Arisugawa Park. The fairly polished work of art presented to literary sorts.
Then there is the left-field concept of the blog , which is that it represents a scratch pad for nascent projects to be worked out. There is no reason, I believe, why readers should not see the genesis of what later become polished works of art. The EVEN material fits this category.
There is also an element of the blog that involves marking territory. Each time I write about fabric I further define the territory of a new sustainability-commerce platform type, such that when (and if) entrepreneurial types glom onto the core concept I will be positioned as a core influencer.
Intellectual property is something I got fairly in-depth with in grad school and is something I may need to leverage in the future in order to channel these ideas into... yeah, increasing Gross National Happiness, saving the earth, paying rent.
The same goes for EVEN concepts, by the way. The oft-read (stats don't lie) post on the nanochip/DNA micro-spray propagation of extraterrestrial life is one that may find an outlet in popular culture. I want to make sure I harness something from my original ideas, have evidence of output dated and stamped––as the Internet sure seems to be harnessing my intellectual output, no compensation in sight.
